Bank dividends doomed?

'Bank dividends doomed? Scoff at your peril' was the title of Derek DeCloet's column in the February 14th Report on Business. The column contains some good ideas and well worth reading. If I owned bank shares, I'd pay $5 for it when that time comes. Here is one idea I picked out: whether the bank dividends hold could depend upon the length of the recession. (The word depression was not used in the column. I might have used it.)
